Discount Modest Swimwear

If you current swim suit is wearing out, check out the deals from Lime Ricki Swimwear!  I just recieved a promotion from www.livingsocial.com for a substantial discount.  They have a store on Highland Dr in Salt Lake City, where they're clearing out display model swimwear for $5, top or bottom (more on that on their blog: http://www.limerickiblog.com/).

You can also order online, www.limericki.com, $8 standard shipping, and if you click on Factory, there's a substantial selection of girl's swim bottoms for $5 a piece (unfortunately that can't be combined with the Living Social deal, but you could use Living Social for a tankini top to go with the bottoms).  You could get the whole thing for as little as $38, if I've calculated correctly.

I just recently got a new suit, but it's not as modest as I would like - these are much better.

Baking Soda Fun

Being inspired by pinterest we decided to play with baking soda and vinegar.

A pan of baking soda followed by colored vinegar (food coloring) applied with a medicine syringe = tons of colorful, bubbly fun. The activity probably would have lasted longer if I had eye droppers, but around here we use what we have.  The cupcake pan was used for the different colors of vinegar (less to spill).

DIY dishwasher detergent

Utah recently passed into law a requirement that only phosphate-free dishwasher detergents can be sold in the state.  This has caused a lot of problems for those of us who don't have a water softener - even with rinse agent in every batch, the dishes come out with a white film over everything, particularly plastics and glass.

Today, I found this article on KSL.com  The author tested a number of DIY detergent recipes and found one that she recommends.  I'll have to give it a try, since using Lemi-Shine in every batch is rather expensive!

Chick-Fil-A - mission accomplished and giveaway winners

So 5 kids and I braved Chick-Fil-A today. It was super busy (had to wait outside to get in the store). But people were super nice and super patient and a group even tried to spontaneously sing a patriotic song. The kids loved their mini sundaes and playing on the playground (which surprisingly wasn't crowded). I think I'll go again soon when it isn't so crowded and actually order a sandwich. I just didn't want to wait that long today and the kids had already had lunch.

GIVEAWAY WINNER(S)

Since I initiated this giveaway I hereby decide to award two prizes. Recycle signs go to:
Anna
and
Stephanie
So I have Anna's address, but if Stephanie could email me her address I can mail the vinyl recycle signs. Thanks for the chore suggestions. The kids have been nicer about helping the last few days. :)
